For Nurses

Global Nurses Network understands the details required in ensuring a timely processing of immigration materials, and will assist you throughout the process:

Steps Details
1. Get CGFNS certified

At this point, Global Nurses Network is only talking with nurses that are CGFNS-certified

Refer to CGFNS dates for details on locations, dates, and applications to take the CGFNS exam

2. Conduct screening interview Once you provide proof to Global Nurses Network that you have passed the CGFNS, a representative will contact you to setup an interview

The interviewer will be interested in your performance in nursing school, your practical experience, and your English speaking skills
3. Take IELTS or TOEFL and TSE You are required to pass either the IELTS or both the TOEFL and the TSE exams. Please refer to IELTS details or TOEFL/TSE details for details on locations, dates, and applications for IELTS or TOEFL and TSE.
4. Submit all necessary paperwork to Global Nurses Network

Once you have passed all exams and the screening interview, you will need to prepare your paperwork to file for the immigration petition

You will need the following papers together:

  • RN degree certificate
  • Resume with all work experience
  • Letters from hospitals verifying work experience and any recommendations
  • CGFNS certificate and/or valid N-CLEX
  • IELTS or TOEFL and TSE exam certificates (must be presented within 2 years from date of issuance)
  • Grade transcripts from secondary schools, universities and/or nursing school
  • School diplomas
  • Score on board exam
  • Copy of license
  • Work certificates
  • Special training certificate
  • Copy of passport
  • Copy of marriage license (if applicable)
5. File the I-140 immigration petition (for Green Card) Once you have submitted all of your paperwork, Global Nurses Network will work with the appropriate hospital to file for your Green Card
6. VisascreenTM US immigration law now requires that healthcare professionals, other than physicians, complete a screening program in order to qualify for certain occupational visas. VisascreenTM , a program offered by the International Commission on Healthcare Professionals (IHCP – in association with CGFNS), enables healthcare professionals to meet this requirement by verifying and evaluating their credentials to ensure compliance with the government’s minimum eligibility standards.

As soon as your I-140 is filed, you should proceed with applying for VisaScreen. Please refer to VisaScreen details for more information.
7. Wait (6-18 months) Depending upon the time you apply and the hospital, your waiting period can range anywhere from 6-18 months. During this time, we recommend that you continue to gain good work experience and brush up on your language skills.

Throughout this time, Global Nurses Network will be in touch with you to keep you informed of your status and next steps. Once you receive a call from the US Consulate to schedule an interview, your Green Card is not far away.
8. Come to US Once you’ve obtained your Green Card, its time to make the trip! Again, Global Nurses Network will assist with the ticket to the US, as well as temporary lodging once you are in the US. We will also help you with administrative tasks in the US such as getting a drivers license, a social
